Postgraduate
Biologist from the University of Antofagasta (2011). She completed her pre-degree practice and undergraduate thesis at the CARE Aging and Regeneration Center of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. During her career as a researcher she has dedicated to the study of microorganisms of extreme environments and bioleaching at the Biotechnology Center of the Universidad Católica del Norte, during the years 2011 – 2013. In 2014, she worked in a mining company, developing improvements in the processes of indirect bioleaching of copper sulphides. In recent years, she has dedicated to study microorganisms from Atacama Desert, in the Biochemistry Group at the University of Antofagasta. In 2018, she finished a Master’s Degree in the Biomedical Sciences Mention Applied Microbiology, studying genes responsible for to lithium tolerance of an environmental Staphylococcus. Currently, she is studying bioactive compounds from cyanobacteria and amoeba species isolated from lagoons and salt flats of the Atacama Desert for biotechnological applications. She has experience in the use of chromatographic techniques for the purification and identification of bioactive compounds. She has actively participated in recent years in dissemination activities such as the “Science Festival” and “Vaccines to our rescue in Antofagasta”
