Dr. Jaime Ojeda
Associate researcher

I am a marine biologist and researcher at the University of Magallanes. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Victoria, Canada. I have developed two research lines. First, coastal ecology on Sub-Antarctic and Antarctic environments, I have worked on spatial and temporal scales with seabirds, mollusks, and seaweed. Second, ethnoecology, I have had the opportunity to learn on traditional ecological knowledge of Indigenous and local communities from Patagonia and British Columbia. Currently, my main target is to rebuild small-scale fisheries in Canada and Chile by customary management practices, social-ecological approach, and political ecology.
Research lines
  • Socioecology
  • Coastal ecology
  • Ethnoecology
